Kage Tsuki

Kage Tsuki is a karate strike. Pronounced 'car-gi-zuki'. Kage Tsuki is the hooking punch in Japanese Karate. The technique is very similar to the roundhouse punch of Mawashi Tsuki but Kage Tsuki is usually delivered more direct from the front of the body rather than taking the shoulder right back in Mawashi Tsuki.

The hooking punch of Kage Tsuki is achieved by punching in an almost circular motion from the outside of the body with the motion forcing the punch to land on the side of your opponent. A decent amount of power can be concentrated into this technique with the main force and intention of hooking across your opponent to either knock them out or knock them down.

Kage Tsuki uses the Seiken knuckles (the first two big punching knuckles) to deliver the blow, although this does put the wrist under quite a lot of pressure so it is therefor important to practise strengtherning the wrists as much as possible to avoid damaging it should you ever use this technique.
