Striking Techniques in Polecat

Polecat Martial Arts striking techniques are fast direct strikes to vital points of an opponent's body. Unlike traditional karate and other martial arts, these strikes are best employed from either the disguise position or from the most obvious starting point, not like Karate where all strikes are started from the fist at the waist preperation points. We strike from the most obvious and natural position in order for the strike to be delivered quickly and acuratley.

The Body Punch

Basic Martial Arts Techniques

Polecats body punch is a directly driven punch from the front of the body that works on the simple principle of straightening the arm. From an elbow bent, arm bent position, with the clenched fist placed somewhere between the chin and abdomen (where ever you feel comfortable) and the elbow close to the side of the body, simply extend or straighten the arm to deliver the punch. Both the speed and power generated in the body punch is harnessed directly from the elbow. Dont try to punch from the body, just try to flick out the elbow from a bent position to a straight position, this will drive the fist forward into the opponents body, chin etc...

The Tipping Punch

Basic Martial Arts Techniques

Polecats tipping punch is again directly driven from the front of the body. With a clenched fist hovering in front of your own face (this can be disguised as nail biting, picking or scratching the nose etc..) and the elbow bent in front of your chest, the punch again is simply driven out by snapping the elbow straight, forcing the punch directly outwards. At the end of the punch, the fist is quickly flicked downwards on to the opponent in a tipping or spasming effect, this is the inflict maximum energy transfer from your strike into you opponent. Eyes, nose, jaw, neck and solar plexus make good target areas for this punch.

The Uppercut

Polecat Uppercut is a vertical driven strike using the Polecat Hand or Claw action to drive an opponents face up and backwards. There is also a degree of hooking motion incorperated into the strike which takes the head to the side while striking. This technique is used quite alot in wrestling with an open hand or slap which is directly focused at the side of the jaw. The strike is designed to fit directly inside the guard of the opponent and should be sent up throught the middle of the opponent. Upon striking the motion then derives into a sideways swipping motion, areas for striking are the chin, jaw, mouth, nose, bridge of the nose or the solar plexus.

The Hook

Learn the Polecat Hooking Punch or Roundhouse Punch

Polecat Hooking Punch is a round house strike using the Polecat Hand or claw on the ridge side ( thumb side of the hand ). The round house motion of the strike is useful for getting round the outside of an opponents guard and is also very useful for oppening up the guard for a further attack directly. Therefor the Polecat Hooking Punch is best used as part of a sequence of punches or as a combination. Using the Polecat Hand instead of a regular fist enables you to strike more safely and at a greater level of power than conventional hook or roundhouse punches. Target areas include the side of the jaw, ear, neck, temple, nose or accross the bridge of the eyes.
