Five Stances of the Polecat Martial Art

Five Elements theory is an ancient Chinese belief system that governed an entire dynasty, Wu Xing, teaches us that five elements account for everything collectively. In Polecat Martial Arts, we use 5 stances that coincide with this exact theory giving us a stance for any given situation. Stances used are very similar to the Karate stances with only subtle differences, in general Polecat stances are less strict and more forgiving than traditional Karate stances.

The Fire stance, short in length and forward based, perfect for mounting rapid attacks on an opponent, fast moving and powerful techniques, firelike.

The Metal stance, again short, springy and light, fast transitioning and gives strong downward style strikes, takedowns and blocks.

The Wood stance, grounded, routed to the earth just like a tree, flexible and dependable to an extent, powerful blocks and heavy punching.

The Earth Stance, wide and low, slow atance for mustering power from below, ideal for upward attacks, lifting, sedated and heavy techniques.

The Water Stance, quick flowing, transitional, used for changing, avoiding, rotating and fluid movements.
