Polecat Hand or Claw

Polecat Hand or the Polecat Claw is the main hand technique used in the Polecat Martial Art.

Taking a normal open hand like a hi-5, bend in the four fingers not at the base knuckles but at the secondary set of knuckles which then allows the finger tips to be folded back out of the way. This itself makes karate chopping and knife strikes much more safer by eliminating the finger tips from the equation. The thumb should also be tucked close to the hand but not brought into the palm.

With the hand in this way, we now have many ways to strike including the the back of the hand, the front plam heel strike of the hand, the ridgeside or hooking side of the hand, the nukite forward spear side of the hand or the sword/knife side of the hand.

Advantages over a fist is that clenched fists put excess pressure on knuckled and the wrist, both of which can easily fracture, but using the Polecat Hand this is almost eliminated entirely. Advantages over the open hand techniques is ultimate protection for the fingers. The polecat Claw is exactly the same technique only utilising the folded fingers and nails for scraping, piercing and tearing away at target on an opponent should we need to become nasty.

Polecat Hand and Claw allows you to put more emphasis on generating power into your strikes without compromising the safety of the hand, giving much better piece of mind while striking and defending.
