Seiunchin

Seiunchin is a kaishu kata of the Goju-ryu karate style. It was originally documented by Goju-ryu's founding master Chojun Miyagi. Seiunchin can be interpreted to mean "pulling"

The original direct meaning of the kat has over the years been lost, although in some factors believe the kata is meant to mean "Marching far Quietly".

Seiunchin is one of the unique katas because only it only employs hand techniques, except for single half back kick. Seiunchin uses goju stances such as sanchin dachi, shiko dachi and striking techniques such as the ura uchi backfist strike and hiji ate rising elbow strike alongside reinforced inside blocks or morote uke.
