Kata Hangetsu

Kata Hangetsu is an advanced form found in the Shotokan Karate style. The kata translates from Japanese to mean Half Moon.

The initial part of the kata is performed slowly, under tension with focus on building inner chi or hara, an internal form of energy one can derive through thorough concentration and heavy focus on the techniques been performed.

The second part of the Kata, explodes somewhat and becomes slick, technical and aggresive with combinations of kicks and rapid punches to combat multiple opponents.

1st Dan Black Belt Mark Brown, the Blind Karate Instructor of Mill Hill Dojo demonstates the Shotokan based Kata of Hangetsu.
