How to perform Kata Hangetsu


01. Step forward with the left into Hangetsu Dachi, performng uchi uke with the left hand.

02. Punch chudan tsuki with the right arm.

03. Step forward with the right into Hangetsu Dachi, performing uchi uke with the right hand.

04. Punch chudan tsuki with the left arm.

05. Step forward with the left into Hangetsu Dachi, performng uchi uke with the left hand.

06. Punch chudan tsuki with the right arm.

07. Left arm slowly draws out to join the right arm.

08. Draw the fists inwards towards the chest, keeping the elbows pointed out to the sides, allow the lbows to drop and strike out morote ippon ken tsuki.

09. Raise the hands into jodan juji uke, then perform two rear haito strikes, your arms should end up in a double soto position, the arms then draw towards the front, performing juji uke again before striking out two rear shuto strikes to the waist/groin level.

10. Turn 180 degrees counter clockwise by stepping the right leg accross the left to turn the body into hangetsu dachi, then perform open handed chuge uke, left arm blocking low, right arm blocking high. KIAI.

11. Step forward with right leg into hangetsu dachi performing open handed chuge uke, left hand up, right hand down.

12. Step forward with left leg into hangetsu dachi performing open handed chuge uke, right hand up, left hand down.

13. Raise the right knee and fold the arms in fornt of your chest, step and rotate 90 degrees clockwise to the right, land in hangetsu dachi and perform uchi uke with the right arm.

14. Left arm chudan tsuki followed by right arm chudan tsuki.

15. Raise the left knee and fold the arms out in front of the chest, rotate 180 degrees counter clockwise, land in hangetsu dachi and perform uchi uke with the left arm.

16. Right arm chudan tsuki followed by left hand chudan tsuki.

17. Raise the right knee and step 90 degrees clockwise to the back of the dojo and land in hangetsu dachi, performing uchi uke with the right hand.

18. Left arm chudan tsuki strike followed by right arm chudan tsuki strike.

19. Raise the left knee and prepare to rotate 180 degrees counter clockwise into kokutso dachi, as you turn, bring your left hand right over your head and continue to bring down the arm until it rests at a traditional shita tsuki short punch position.

20. Step the right leg forward and kick mae gerri off the left leg, drop down into hangetsu dachi and perform gedan barai with the left arm.

21. Chudan tsuki with the right arm followed by Jodan Age Uke rising block with the left hand.

22. Raise the right knee and prepare to rotate 180 degrees clockwise into kokutso dachi, as you turn, bring your right hand over your head and continue to bring down the arm until it rests at a traditional shita tsuki short punch position.

23. Step the left leg forward and kick mae gerri off the right leg, drop down into hangetsu dachi and perform gedan barai with the right arm.

24. Chudan tsuki with the left arm followed by Jodan Age Uke rising block with the right hand.

25. Raise the left knee and prepare to rotate 180 degrees counter clockwise into kokutso dachi, as you turn, bring your left hand right over your head and continue to bring down the arm until it rests at a traditional shita tsuki short punch position.

26. The left palm opens and the arm stretches out to the front.

27. Using the right leg, cresant kick into the left palm and step back with a gedan tsuki.

28. Step back with the right left, bring the left leg into cat stance and draw both hands out to the front to form a guard against an opponents knee strike.
