Kakiwake Uke

Kakiwake Uke is a karate block. Pronounced 'kak-he-whack-he-hooky'. The block with the most unusual name has got to go to the double handed wedge block of Kakiwake Uke.

The wedge block is performed by performing a double simultaneous block of Uchi Uke, two inside blocks at the same time. This results in both arms first crossing before finishing out with both arms in line, directly in front of the body.

This could be then used as either a double block, from two opponents or indeed a double strike to two opponents. It is most commonly used as a grappling or holding technique, where the lappels of a karate suite or gi, could be grabbed by implementing this technique.
